Why do some organisations seem to grow and grow while others struggle?

The winners have the capacity to win, the reason is this, most organisations
work to capacity the capacity of their systems,
their processes, their people and sometimes
their capital, quite right too everything should be fully employed to
capacity. But how we define capacity is the key, if we say capacity is
the maximum output from the maximum use of our resources then fine. What
we measure is what we will always get providing we carry on managing the
resources and making sure nothing goes wrong.
However if we describe capacity as the maximum output from our best use
of our resources then we have a greater chance of success, because if
we work with develop and support our resources we will find many ways
to increase the capacity and so deliver more for less money or time.
